One of oldest aircraft of the 1980s operated by the FAS during the war in El Salvador, was this Douglas C-47A-1DK Dakota (colloquially known as ‘Fantasma’ within the FAS personnel). Its original construction number was 11867 and US Air Force serial 42-92104. El Salvador received it in September 1967 and it served with the Escuadrón de Transporte, FAS, throughout its career. It is shown as around 1989, in a disruptive camouflage pattern of tan and olive drab on top surfaces and sides and (quite worn out) light aircraft grey on undersides.
