The number of AT-33As operated by the FAS was also limited to three, of which two were operational on average. Between 1979 and the mid-1980s – when they were withdrawn from service – the aircraft were partially re-painted at least twice, resulting in a very colourful camouflage pattern as illustrated here: the original light grey overall was enhanced with tan and dark green, and then with additional tan and black. Like Cessna 337s, they originally wore the FAS national insignia on the fin, but by the mid-1980s this was replaced with the Nicaraguan tricolore, and a roundel applied on the rear fuselage.
