The Biafrans captured several French-supplied Panhard armoured cars from the Nigerians. The example shown here on the left is an AML-60 armed with a 60mm mortar. Named ‘Oguta Boy’ after the lakeside town where it was captured the Panhard was a welcome addition to their armoured force. A number of Nigerian Daimler Ferret scout cars, as shown on the right, armed with Browning machineguns were captured by the Biafrans and some were put back into action by them. Most only saw short service before being destroyed or put out of action by the enemy, with only one, ‘Uzuakoli Boy’ seeing long service. (Artworks by David Bocquelet)
