Douglas DC-8-32 N809PA
Jet Clipper Great Republic, C/n 45262, I/n 70
Clipper Great Republic was named after the steamer SS Great Republic, the biggest ship at the time of its launch in 1866. N809PA was delivered new to Pan Am in June 1960, serving until February 1968 when it was old to United Airlines as N8246U. Its service there was fairly brief before it was withdrawn from use and stored at Denver, Colorado in March 1974. Overseas National Airways bought it in December 1975, leasing it to travel club Aire Cardinal International from September 1976 to July 1977. United Air Leasing Corporation purchased it that October for conversion to DC-8-33F freighter standard. Plymouth Leasing Corporation leased it to Rosenbalm Aviation and then Emery Worldwide Airlines, it finally going to International Airline Support Inc at Miami in December 1984. By January 1986 it had been broken up.
