Having the same firepower and similar armour to the T-26 tank, but with a large V-12 engine and Christie suspension, the BT-7 was the most powerful tank deployed during the Nomonhan conflict. As usual, all were painted in olive green, and they wore either no, or only a bare minimum of markings. While performing well against the Japanese, the BT-7 series performed poorly against the Germans in 1941 and was replaced by the T-34 during the Second World War. Ironically, dozens remained in the RKKA inventories long enough to take part in the August Storm operation in 1945. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
