North American F−51D Mustang armed with 5−inch rockets. The F−51D was the first tactical fighter employed by the PhAF in the post−war period and served extensively against Huk insurgents. Except for six machine guns calibre 12.7mm, usual armament consisted of six HVAR unguided rockets calibre 127mm, and bombs calibre 100 and 200lbs. Inset is showing the crest of the 5th Tactical Fighter Group – usually applied on the fin of Philippino Mustangs. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
