The Yakovlev Yak-11 entered service with the Bulgarian air arm in 1950. A total of 45 aircraft were delivered, initially set to be used for the advanced and night training of the pilots in the newly-established jet fighter regiments, and later on the type was handed over to the People’s Air Force School in Dolna Mitropolya, where it remained in use until 1965.
