Perhaps the rarest armoured combat vehicle deployed by the Soviet Army during Operation Danube was the SU-122-54 – a self-propelled tank destroyer equipped with the 122mm M-62T gun installed on the T-54-chassis, intended to provide long-range fire-support. Only 100 of these were manufactured, in two sub-variants, in the 1955-57 period: both had a crew of five, and carried 35 rounds of 122mm high-explosive-fragmenting and anti-tank ammunition. It seems that only one battalion of 20 such vehicles was deployed during Operation Danube: all were left in dark olive green overall, and received the white identification stripe down their sides, in addition to the usual turret numbers.
