S-300P TRANSPORTER-ERECTOR-LAUNCHERS
This illustration shows the various TELs associated with the S-300PS Volkhov M6 system. Two
versions of the TEL were developed, the 5P85S standard TEL and the 5P85D (dopolnitelniy:
auxiliary) TEL. The standard TEL had an F3S control shelter behind the main truck cab
supplemented by an auxiliary power unit (APU). The auxiliary TEL, sometimes called a slave TEL by
Western intelligence, lacked the control cabin and APU. The mix of these TELs varied, sometimes a
2-to-1 ratio of auxiliary TELs per standard TEL and sometimes a 1-to-1 ratio. During combat
operations, the auxiliary TELs were linked by cable to the control shelters on the standard TELs.
The 5P85T semi-trailer option was developed for the S-300PM Volkhov M-6M (SA-20 Gargoyle) by
placing the launcher assembly on a semi-trailer, towed by a KrAZ-260V tractor truck.
