The Japanese Type A midget submarine was 79.5 feet long and 6 feet in diameter. The craft displaced 46 tons
when submerged. It was powered by a 600-horsepower electric motor and could make 23 knots on the surface
and 19 knots submerged. It was armed with two eighteen-inch torpedo tubes and carried a crew of two men.
