The IrAAC inherited a large feet of about 200 Mi-8Ts and Mi-17s from the IrAF in 1980. Most Mi-8Ts were acquired in the early 1970s and left in olive-green over and light admiralty grey (BS381C/697 or FS35622) on undersides. Serials (here the example serialled as 1268) were left over from the time of their service with the IrAF, applied in order of delivery, and thus anywhere within the range 1200–2100. Applied in black, often with the help of stencils, these were worn on the boom. Nearly all wore large national flags applied on the rear cabin sides; some also had two sets of national insignia.
