Schiitte-Lanz built Zeppelin Staaken R.VI, joined Rfa 501 on 23rd January 1918, and flew raids against England under the command of Hauptmann Arthur Schoeller. It was lost on 7 March 1918, having bombed London, it was approaching the Belgian coast and all four engines failed when water-contaminated fuel froze. Schoeller was able to glide to a crash-landing. The landing gear collapsed and the right wing was wrecked, but all the crew survived without injury.
