The American Second World War halftrack continued to serve in secondary roles within the IDF into fall 1973. One such was as a platoon or company command vehicle sprouting many tall antennae for radios inside the infantry compartment. The halftrack could retain the machine gun ring above the driver’s compartment or have a map board in its place. Endemic to the IDF were the winch at the front bumper and the assortment of external stowage racks. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
