The Iranian Army acquired about 300 M113A1 and M113A2 APCs for its armoured divisions in the 1970s, but for most of the war with Iraq these served instead with the reconnaissance battalions of the various divisions. All were painted in standardised colours, and most received various kinds of inscriptions on their hull sides (and different forms of storage baskets, usually on their hull-fronts). In this case, the inscriptions included hull number ‘29’ in red and ‘Allah o-Akbar’ (‘God is great’) in white. (Artwork by Radek Panchartek)
