During Ralph O’Neill’s tenure with the MAS, in 1922 Mexico acquired a total of 10 Morane-Saulnier MS.35C/Rs from a US representative. Only six appear to have actually entered service and they were primarily deployed as trainers and for reconnaissance, but also flew the first nocturnal bombing attack ever conducted by the service. This example, 31-A-123, was known to have been flown by Charles Lindbergh on 16 December 1927 in a series of flights carrying passengers. (Artwork by Peter Penev)
