This profile is based on an Avi Harmon photo of one of the IDF's first Shermans. This M4 began life as a howitzer tank but was rearmed with a Gun, 75mm M3 in an M34 mount just in time to participate in Operation Horev with Haganah forces in December 1948. The M3 gun gave the 75mm Sherman its IDF nomenclature.
