With the VAQ-135 being rushed to USS Coral Sea on 1 January 1986, its crews had little time for applying any other kind of unit insignia on their aircraft, except for the tailcode ‘AK’. Something similar can be said about their camouflage pattern, which consisted of Dark Ghost Gray (FS36320) on top surfaces and sides, over Light Ghost Gray (FS 36375). While the few available photographs are rather unclear in this regards, it seems that AK623 received an additional touch of some other colour than the usual dark gray FS35237 around the cockpit.
