The G-2 Galeb was a two-seat jet trainer armed with two 12.7mm Browning AN/M3 machine guns and four underwing hardpoints with a capacity of 300kg. The first of two examples – serial number 23121 – was available to the 105th Brigade of the SVK, in the Serb-controlled part of Croatia. As usual for most domestically manufactured aircraft of the former Yugoslav Air Force, the aircraft originally received an RAF-influenced camouflage pattern in dark sea grey (BS381C/638) and dark green (BS381C/641) on top surfaces and sides, and PRU blue on undersurfaces. Top-side colours were quite worn out by 1994, and partially refreshed during its overhaul undertaken locally. The prominent large tactical number 121 was removed in late 1991, but it did receive a nickname ‘Krajišnik’, applied in black, low on the right side of the nose. This Galeb was eventually abandoned at Udbina and captured by Croat forces in August 1995. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
