General appearance of two Il-28U conversion trainers acquired by the EAF in 1955-1956 period was similar to that of Il-28 bombers. Instead of serials, they have received alphabetic codes, apparently starting with A and going at least up to T. The two trainers appear to have been coded as ‘I’ and ‘T’. The aircraft coded as D, G, H, M, N, O, P, and S are known to have survived the war: all were evacuated to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Indeed, ‘N’ should have continued its career at least until June 1967, by when the entire fleet received serials in range 1700-1799. (Artwork by Tom Cooper)
