From a numerical point of view, the Showa/Nakajima L2D3 ‘Tabby’ – a licence-built version of the Douglas DC-3 – was the most important Japanese transport aircraft used in the Second World War. This example also survived long enough to be deployed by the French Section avions de liaison (SAL). (Artwork by Jean-Marie Guillou)
