Czechoslovakia delivered a total of 18 vz. 52 anti-tank guns from surplus stocks of its army to the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) in 1964. Developed by Škodovy závody in Pilsen under the designation A22, the gun was manufactured by Závody K. J. Vorošilova at Dubnica nad Váhom. The essence of their construction was the same D-5T gun used on the T-34/85 tank, with a muzzle brake, installed on a mount originally developed for the 105mm H9 field howitzer. In this fashion, a new gun was developed quickly and introduced to service to the Czechoslovak army in 1952, under the designation vz. 52. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
