Boeing 707-321B N880PA
Clipper Emerald Isle, C/n 20079, I/n 767
Boeing delivered 126 707s to Pan Am with -321B, N880PA, being handed over on 25 October 1968 and named Clipper Emerald Isle. It was leased from US Leasing International until it was withdrawn from service 26 January 1981 with 35,319 hours on the clock. It was then subleased to ATASCO and operated Guyana Airways for a year from December 1981 and then returned to US Leasing. On 26-27 October 1983 it was flown from John F. Kennedy Airport, New York to Paris-Le Bourget via Gander as Flight PA 114 to mark the 25th anniversary of USA-France commercial jet service. For this event it was temporarily renamed Clipper America. This celebration also marked the last Pan American 707 flight.
N880PA was sold back to Boeing on 27 February 1984 and delivered to Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona to support the KC-135 tanker upgrade programme. Many 707s were dismantled at ‘D-M’ for parts such as skin panels to keep USAF Stratotankers flying.
