Replacing old and worn out Dingos, in the 1970s the TTDF acquired at least three Shorland armoured patrol cars. All were equipped with turrets similar in design to those on Ferret scout cars and equipped with a single 7.62mm machine gun, with 450 rounds stowage. All three arrived already camouflaged in typical European pattern consisting of black, dark brown and dark green – which proved well-suited to the conditions on Trinidad and Tobago.
