The MiG-15bis is the ultimate representative of the MiG-15 model family, with better performance and equipment standard. The VVS took delivery of 67 such jets, the first of which arrived at Graf Ignatievo in crated form in August 1953, while the last batch followed two years later. Some of the VVS fighter squadrons in the mid-1950s operated in mixed fleets of ‘plain’ and improved MiG-15s. In the early 1960s, the MiG-15bis fleet was handed over to the fighter-bomber regiments and it was also operated for a while by one of the training squadrons of the 2nd UBAP at Kamenets.
