The primary mount and workhorse of the FAPLA’s motorised infantry was the eight-wheeled BTR-60PB armoured personnel carrier. Usually operating in battalions of up to 30 (each consisting of three companies of seven, plus command vehicles), all were left in their original dark green overall livery, and very few sighted in 1987-1988 seem to have received any kind of markings. The BTR-60PB was armed with the same turret as that mounted on the BRDM-2, containing a 14.5mm KPV heavy machine gun, with a 7.62mm co-axial light machine gun. Because of the cramped passenger compartment, most of the kit and personal belongings of the crew and the carried infantry was usually attached to the outside the vehicle.
