The primary patrol vehicle of the MINURSO contingent in Western Sahara is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. This is a full-size, four-wheel drive vehicle in the Land Cruiser range, with a ladder frame chassis, two-speed transfer boxes and rear beam axles. The earlier J70-series of the 1990s was replaced by the J90 series in a five-door long-wheelbase version, as illustrated here. They are all painted in white overall, wearing large black UN insignia on their sides, and blue registration plates starting with prefix ‘MIN’. (Artwork by David Bocquelet)
